WILTON, Conn. - Rita M. Kneeland of Wilton and Orleans Mass., died Friday, Jan. 31. She was 97.
Kneeland was born Jan. 8, 1917, in Newton, Mass. She lived in Newton and then moved to Auxbridge, Mass., where she attended local schools. Upon graduation, she attended secretarial school and became a secretary for a New York City corporation. After her marriage, she became a homemaker. She was a resident of Wilton for the last three years after moving from New Jersey.
Kneeland is survived by her daughter, Carol A. Crocker of St. Helena Island, S.C.; five grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her parents; husband, George Jackson Kneeland; and son, George J. Kneeland Jr.
Calling hours and funeral services are Thursday, Feb. 6, in the Kane Funeral Home, 25 Catoonah St., Ridgefield, at 11 a.m.
