WILTON, Conn. Mary Jane Shanks of Wilton died Oct. 2 at her home. She was 77.
Shanks was born April 28, 1935, in Mount Vernon, N.Y., to John and Katherine Hoctor. She was the former owner of the Shamrock Freight Co. She enjoyed knitting, reading and socializing with her friends at Ogden House and the Wilton Senior Center.
Shanks is survived by two sons, Dennis P. (Janet) Oehmsen, of Columbus, Ind., and David S. (Deniece) Oehmsen, of Kennesaw, Ga.; two daughters, Karen (Tom) Lancia, of Port Chester, N.Y., and Jennifer (Walter) Belinsky, of Fairfield; a brother, Jack (Ginny) Hoctor, of Chambersburg, Pa.; seven grandchildren; two nephews and a niece.
Visitation is from 3 to 7 p.m., Thursday, at Magner Funeral Home in Norwalk. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m., Friday, at Blessed Sacrament Church in New Rochelle, N.Y. Burial will follow at Holy Sepulchre Church in New Rochelle.
