Lillian Smith, 60, Lifelong Wilton Resident

WILTON, Conn. – Lillian Tanner Smith, a lifelong resident of Wilton, died Feb. 12 at Somers Manor Nursing Home in Somers, N.Y., after a prolonged illness. She was 60.

Smith was born June 7, 1952, in Norwalk to Dolores Adams and Thomas Tanner. She graduated from Wilton High School in 1970. She was married for 39 years to David J. Smith.

For many years, Smith worked in bookkeeping, computers and administration to managing her husband's excavating and plowing businesses.

In later years, she worked as a substance-abuse counselor at a local rehabilitation center.

Smith is survived by a son, Jason D. Smith, of Wilton; a daughter, Jennifer (Chris) Urban, of Milford, Conn.; her mother, Dolores Adams, of Winstead, Conn.; two brothers, David Tanner and Mark (Tina) Tanner, of Winstead. She was predeceased by her father; her stepfather, Raymond Adams; and an infant son, Jonathan.

Visitation is from 5-8 p.m. Friday at Bouton Funeral Home in Georgetown. There will be a memorial service at 11 a.m. Saturday at Wilton Congregational Church. A reception will follow the service in Pilgrim Hall.
