Joan Tighe, 81, Of Wilton

WILTON, Conn. – Joan Madden Tighe of Wilton, formerly of Palm Beach, Fla., died Monday, Aug. 27, in Norwalk after a battle with Parkinson's disease. She was 81. 

Born April 15, 1931, in Yonkers, N.Y., she was the daughter of Mae Kelly and Louis Jay Madden. She was married to John Francis Tighe, who predeceased her. Tighe received a bachelor's degree from Fordham University. She and her husband were co-chairs of the Greater Palm Beach Symphony. She was a member of the Order of Malta Auxiliary. 

She is survived by a daughter, Dr. Mae Kelly Tighe, and her husband, Thomas James Bronner, of Wilton; a son, Dr. John Francis (Gina) Tighe Jr., of Cornwall, N.Y.; a brother, William Madden, of Vista, Calif.; and four grandchildren. She was predeceased by two brothers, Harold Madden and Thomas Madden. 

A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Saturday at St. Aloysius Church in New Canaan. Burial will follow at Lakeview Cemetery. Calling hours are from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday at Hoyt Funeral Home in New Canaan, with a recitation of the rosary at 7:30 p.m.
