WILTON, Conn. The number of people without jobs in Wilton is on a downward trend, according to a report presented by First Selectman Bill Brennan.
Brennan reported to the Board of Selectmen Monday night that unemployment in the town hit a low of 5.2 percent in December.
Out of the 169 towns and cities in Connecticut, only 11 have unemployment rates lower than Wilton's.
Wilton is lower when compared to surrounding towns like Ridgefield, which Brennan reported to be at 5.3 percent, and Redding at 5.5 percent. Connecticut is at 8.2 percent unemployment.
Im excited at least that the trend line is down, Brennan said. Any way you look at it, were doing relatively good.
