Wilton To Vote On Budgets At Annual Town Meeting

WILTON, Conn. – Wilton voters get their chance to have a say in whether the proposed town and education budgets for the next fiscal year get approved on Tuesday night during the Annual Town Meeting.

At the meeting, the proposed $30.95 million town budget will be presented, as will the Board of Education’s proposed $76.14 million spending plan. Following the presentations, registered voters will cast their ballots.

The Board of Selectmen’s proposed town budget represents an approximately 1.98 percent increase over the current year’s spending. The request education budget represents a 2.82 percent increase.

In addition to the budgets, voters will also decide whether the town should go out to bond for five capital projects totaling over $2 million. 

The projects include: the conversion of boilers at Wilton High School, Cider Mill and Middlebrook schools to accommodate natural gas; building renovations and boiler replacement at Comstock Community Center; and replacement of the boiler at Gilbert & Bennett Community Cultural Center.

The Annual Town Meeting will begin at 7:30 p.m. in the Middlebrook School auditorium. Voting will continue Saturday for residents who are unable to attend the meeting Tuesday night. Saturday’s voting will take place at Wilton High School’s Clune Center from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m.
