Wilton Sets Mission for Economic Development

WILTON, Conn. – The vision, mission and objectives are almost ready for Wilton’s Economic Development Commission.

The Board of Selectmen briefly discussed a first draft on what the new commission will do for the town at Monday night's meeting. First Selectman Bill Brennan asked the board members to take the draft and edit it.

“We’re setting the long-term vision, mission and objectives of this commission,” Brennan said. “We don’t have to be inventing the wheel, but we want to be sure that we've got a really understandable commission.”

Selectman Richard Dubow has been put in charge of keeping the development of the new commission on task.

Generally, the draft of the mission and objectives was well received. Though he mentioned that taking extensive notes on the draft, “overall it was largely positive. It was very clear and concise,” Selectman Ted Hoffstatter said. “I was really pleased.”

So far, no commission members have been named, though Brennan has said on several occasions that he has a list of people who might work well.

“The key will be balancing the skill sets,” Brennan said. He asked anyone interested in being on the new commission to contact any of the selectmen.
