Wilton Selectman Running for State Rep. Seat

WILTON, Conn. – Wilton Selectman Ted Hoffstatter has been unanimously nominated to run as the Democratic candidate for the 143rd state Assembly seat in November.

“I look forward to a campaign of discussing the issues with the voters of the 143rd,"  Hoffstatter said Tuesday night at the party's nominating convention. "I will demonstrate to the voters over the next several months that I hear what they are saying, that I will take their concerns and issues to Hartford, and that I will get the issues resolved for our good,” he said.

Hoffstatter will go up against State Rep. Gail Lavielle, R-Wilton, who was elected in 2010.

Hoffstatter has a long record of public service to the Town and to the area. He has been elected to three terms as a Wilton selectman. Previously, he served on the Wilton Library Board of Trustees and on the Water Pollution Control Board.

In 2007, he served as chairman of the Wilton Democratic Town Committee. Since 2008, he has served as one of two elected representatives from the seven-town 26th Senatorial District to the Democratic State Committee.

A life-long resident of Wilton, Hoffstatter attended Wilton public schools and graduated from Wilton High School, where he played varsity ice hockey. He went on to earn a bachelor's degree in political science from Eckerd College and a master' in education from Sacred Heart University.
