Wilton Recognized At Clean Energy Communities Awards Ceremony

WILTON, Conn. –The Town of Wilton was recognized as a silver award recipient for its participation in the nationally recognized Clean Energy Communities program, an Energize Connecticut initiative that provides incentives to cities and towns to support energy efficiency and renewable energy.

Wilton received its award for meeting the following goals:

  • Met both energy efficiency and renewable energy requirements of Clean Energy Communities Pledge
  • Currently benchmarking all municipal and school buildings
  • 1,301 (21 percent) homes have participated in residential energy-saving programs
  • 91 (11 percent) business and municipal energy-saving projects completed
  • Earned one reward on renewable track; previously installed a solar photovoltaic system at Wilton High School
  • Partner in U.S. Department of Energy grant program Neighbor to Neighbor

The ceremony was highlighted by keynote speaker Lynne Hamjian, deputy director of the office of ecosystem protection for the Environmental Protection Agency New England. 

Connecticut Energy and Environmental Protection Commissioner Robert Klee was also in attendance to congratulate the participants. 

David McHale from Eversource, Patrick McDonnell from The United Illuminating Co. and Bryan Garcia from the Connecticut Green Bank also were there to honor Wilton and more than 145 other Connecticut communities.
