Wilton Police Report More Car Break-Ins

WILTON, Conn – Two car break-ins occurred Saturday at the Lake Club, according to the Wilton Police Department.

A club employee called police after noticing that the rear windows of two cars had been smashed. According to a police report, the windows were broken between 6:30 and 7:15 p.m. Two purses were taken from the cars, both containing credit cards and other personal information.

Wilton Police Capt. John Lynch said people tend to leave belongings, such as purses, in their cars while at gyms or clubs. That is why thieves target those areas.

The break-ins are not believed to be related to the incidents at the Montessori school early last week, but Lynch said detectives are looking into every possibility.

The investigation is continuing for both sets of crimes. Police are calling neighboring departments to see whether similar crimes have occurred.
