Wilton Police Charge Man With Using Brother's Name

WILTON, Conn. – A Naugatuck man was stopped by Wilton Police on Route 53 for failure to obey a stop sign, but he was also charged with falsely identifying himself, police reported.

Justin Merithew, 31, gave the officer his brother’s name and said he had forgotten his license, the report said.

“There was a passenger in the car, and he confirmed the real identification of the driver,” said Wilton Police Capt. John Lynch. Police then determined that the suspect was driving with a suspended license.

“He actually did have his license, but he was suspended so he shouldn’t have had it,” Lynch said, adding another charge of failure to turn in his license.

Merithew was given $500 bond and a court date of March 23.
