WILTON, Conn. -- Trygve Hansen, a Wilton resident, was awarded one of the highest France's highest medals on Friday in honor of his military service in World War II, according to a story in wiltonbulletin.com.
Hansen received the Croix de Chevalier dans l’Ordre de la Légion d’Honneur at a reception at New York City's Lycée Français de New York, wiltonbulletin.com reported.
Hansen served in the Norwegian Navy, which made the honor difficult to receive because it is awarded to U.S. veterans; Hansen became a citizen of the United States in 1957, according to wiltonbulletin.com.
