WILTON, Conn. April is officially "Sexual Assault Awareness Month" in Wilton after First Selectman Bill Brennan signed a proclamation Wednesday.
The town is working together with the Center for Sexual Assault Crisis Counseling and Education to promote events that work to inform residents about prevention and awareness.
In the proclamation, it states that sexual violence seriously affects our youth with one out of every three girls and one out of every six boys being sexually abused before the age of 18.
The center services communities around lower Fairfield County, including Wilton, Stamford, Norwalk and Weston.
