Wilton Hosts Norwalk River Trail Celebration

WILTON, Conn. – The group developing the Norwalk River Valley Trail in Wilton and other towns will hold an event Tuesday to celebrate the next step forward in its journey.

The group will host its party from 6 to 7:30 p.m. Tuesday in the Brubeck Room of the Wilton Library. The public is invited. First Selectman William Brennan will be on hand as well as representatives from Alta Design, which is working on the routing study.

The proposed trail will be 38 miles long and stretch from Long Island Sound in Norwalk to Danbury. It will connect to seven Metro-North Railroad stations and the business districts of Danbury Center, Ridgefield Center, Branchville, Cannondale, Wilton Center and South Norwalk.

“This is a celebration of the completion of the study and the launch of the next phases,” said Lisa Bogan of Wilton, a member of the trail steering committee. The next phases will include public education, fundraising and hikes on potential areas of the trail, she said.

Redding First Selectman Natalie Ketcham and Ridgefield First Selectman Rudy Marconi are expected to join Brennan.

Information on the group’s activities and progress are at the trail’s website.
