WILTON, Conn. - In the election Tuesday night, Wilton voted to not allow beer to be sold in grocery stores.
The vote was close, with 1,525 voting to not allow beer in grocery stores and 1,153 voting for it - a difference of 372 votes.
It was a turn around from what had been expected. Selectman Ted Hoffstatter, who won his re-election, had told The Daily Wilton he expected the question to pass.
In 2009, the town voted to allow liquor stores in town, with 2,363 for and 1,801 against.
