WILTON, Conn. – Word that the assistant principal of a Wilton school is leaving for a job in Fairfield led the week in news. Here’s a look at this and other top stories from the past week.

? Leslie Pearson, assistant principal of Miller-Driscoll School, is leaving the district at the end of the year to become principal of Fairfield's McKinley Elementary School. 

? Wilton Fire Chief Paul Milositz announced Wednesday he plans to retire in July. He has served as the town's fire chief and Emergency Management director since January 2003

? Recently released data from the U.S. Census Bureau showed Wilton's population increased by 3 percent from an estimated 18,074 in 2010 to 18,617 last year.

? There was plenty of news out of the state Capitol as this past week as the Connecticut General Assembly approved several reforms, including an increase in the minimum wage, a bill that allows undocumented immigrants to apply for driver's licenses and a “blue alert” system to notify the public when suspects of police violence are at-large.
