WILTON, Conn. About $4,000 in 250 pounds of electrical copper wire was stolen from Wilton business Chestnut Electric, police report.
The Wilton Police Department is checking with local scrap yards to see if anyone has attempted to sell the wiring. A surveillance video provided little information to police. The report says the video captured a black man picking up the wires and placing them into a small sedan before leaving.
Police said they were trying to enhance the surveillance video to get a better idea of the thiefs identity.
The following items were also reported by Wilton police:
DUI Charge: Christian Heise, 27 of Norwalk was charged with driving under the influence after police saw a car sitting on Route 7 at a flashing yellow light. The report said that when police approached the car, Heise seemed confused, and police determined that he had been drinking before driving. He is due in court on April 5.
DUI Charge: Stamford resident Mercedes Collazo, 53, was charged with driving under the influence after she was seen driving erratically, police said.The report said she was unable to perform a field sobriety test. She is due in court on April 2.
Marijuana Possession: An 18-year-old from West Hartford was charged by Wilton police with possession of marijuana. The officer pulled a car over on Route 7 for speeding, police said, and reported smelling marijuana and seeing a green leafy substance in the car. The suspect, who was a passenger, admitted ownership and was charged with possession of less than 4 ounces, an infraction, police said.
Home Theft: A power washer and pry bar were stolen from a home on Westport Road. Police said the value was estimated at more than $200. There are no suspects.
