WILTON, Conn. -- Motorists should expect lane closures as road work begins Monday on Route 33 between Wilton and Ridgefield, the Connecticut Department of Transportation announced on its website.

The project will cover a 3.12-mile stretch of road from Signal Hill Road in Wilton to the Ridgefield border. The work will be done in two stages -- milling and paving.

Milling will last from Monday, May 13, to Tuesday, May 14, and paving will take place from Wednesday May, 15 to Tuesday, May 21. The regular work schedule is from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. weekdays.

Motorists can expect lane closures to occur on Route 33 (Ridgefield Road) between Signal Hill North and the Ridgefield town line. Traffic control personnel and signs will be use to guide motorists through the work zone. Adjustments to the schedule may be necessary due to bad weather.
