Breaking News: Man Accused Of Attempting To Force Person Into His Car In Fairfield County

Police: Wilton Suspect Blames 'Fake' Man for DUI

WILTON, Conn. – A 22-year-old Wilton man was charged with driving under the influence early Sunday morning after the Wilton police arrived at a residence on Westport Road, police said.

The police report says the vehicle went off the road and onto the property at Westport Road, where it proceeded to drive across the stone walls and around the home.

According to police, the suspect told police he was drunk but had not been driving, saying instead a second male he met in South Norwalk, a man named “David,” was driving and left the scene after the collision.

However, more information on “David” could not be obtained, and police said the Westport Road homeowner identified the suspect as the driver. Police said the suspect refused to take a field sobriety test and was taken into custody.

The suspect was released on a promise to appear and is due in court March 29.

Also on the police blotter:

  • An employee at Wilton Congregational Church reported two suspicious people came to the church Thursday requesting assistance or money. Police were unable to determine any suspicious activity.
  • Weston resident Christine Updegrove, 42, was charged with passing a standing school bus by Wilton police. Police said her car passed the bus March 12 by Avalon Bay on Route 7. Updegrove is due in court on April 6.
