WILTON, Conn. New Years Day started off badly for Thomas Chacko, 42, from Ridgefield, when the Wilton Police arrested him on susupcion of driving under the influence.
Chacko had been at a friends house in Wilton and was driving home with his wife and two daughters when police pulled him over on Route 7. Police say he was speeding and then failed a field sobriety test.
After Chacko was taken into custody, his wife drove the family car to the station after completing a sobriety test, Wilton Police Lt. Donald Wakeman said. She had no response when officers asked why she had not been driving, Wakeman added.
Chacko was charged with DUI, speeding and endangering minors and will be in court Wednesday, Jan. 11.

Weston resident John Fragomeli, 43, was charged on suspicion of driving under the influence. Police say he had an open container when they pulled him over. Fragomeli is due in court Monday, Jan. 9.
A renter at Wilton Storage on Danbury Road reported the theft of $3,000 to $4,000 worth of personal items stored there. The facility claims that the renter called to terminate a lease and when no response was received from the renter the facility threw out the contents. The renter claims no contact was made. The investigation was ongoing.
Bruce Bennett Nissan reported the theft of $490 worth of equipment from a 2012 Nissan van between Dec. 22 and Dec. 28. Two exhaust resonators and two oxygen sensors were reported stolen.
