WILTON, Conn. A 36-year-old Shelton woman accused of driving across the lawn at Wiltons Orems Diner late Saturday night was charged with driving under the influence, the Wilton Police Department reports.
Maria Montoya was seen driving into the parking lot of Orems and over the lawn while trying to park on the east side of the lot, police said.
Police said the woman was under the influence when they arrived. She was taken into custody then released on a promise to appear. She is due in court May 17.

Stolen Sweaters: Diana Lesmes, 26, of Danbury, was charged with stealing sweaters worth $179 from a closet at Bridgewater Associates on Westport Road on May 2. Police reported that Lesmes had been caught on video surveillance. She was released on a $2,500 bond and is due in court on May 14.
Car Accident: A 2007 Ford van drove off New Canaan Avenue on Friday and rolled into a pond, police report. Police say the driver was most likely speeding when he attempted a sharp turn, lost control, struck a tree and rolled into a pond. He was taken to the hospital for minor injuries and issued an infraction charging him with failing to drive in the proper lane.
Marijuana Possession: Two teens from Norwalk and Westport were stopped early last Tuesday morning by Wilton Police for an unrelated issue and found by the officer to be in possession of less than half an ounce of marijuana and drug paraphernalia. Both were issued tickets and released.
Runaway Car: A 2007 Jeep Cherokee accelerated when exiting the Splash Car Wash on Saturday and went out of control, police report. A Splash employee said he had used the brake pedal but the car still went out of control, police report. No one was charged, but the employee was brought to Norwalk Hospital.
