WILTON, Conn. -- In an apparent win for Wilton preservationists, the barn, and maybe the house, at the historic Schlichting Homestead will be taken apart and rebuilt at another location, according to the Wilton Bulletin.
The homestead at 183 Ridgefield Road, the oldest family-owned property in Wilton, was sold to a developer in August, according to a previous report in the Bulletin.
In trying to find alternatives to demolition, the developer reached out to a local architect who, in turn, contacted clients who have agreed to take the barn, the more recent report said.
The developer is currently in discussions with other people who are interested in saving the 160-year-old Victorian house, the Bulletin reported.
