Cedar Road Reopens Near Wilton-Weston Border; Tree, Wires Cleared

Update: Cedar Road reopened as of about 6 p.m. Tuesday, according to Wilton Police. 

WILTON, Conn. — Cedar Road is closed between Cobbs Mill Road and Newtown Turnpike on Tuesday afternoon due to a fallen tree and wires, according to Wilton Police. 

Eversource has been notified, police said. A total of five power outages were reported in Weston as of 2:15 p.m.; no outages were reported in Wilton, Eversource said. 

The closure on Cedar Road/Route 53 is near the border of Wilton and Weston.

The tree was apparently downed by strong winds from an incoming storm.  

Drivers are asked to use alternate routes.
