WILTON, Conn. -- Wilton-based Children of the Sound is celebrating 10 years of providing swimming lessons to children in Fairfield and Westchester counties.
The largest private swim school in Fairfield County was founded in Wilton in 2004 and has since expanded into Norwalk and Port Chester, N.Y.
In ten years, COTS has taught more than 75,000 lessons and touched at least 20,000 families.
"Looking back on all of the children COTS has instructed in the past 10 years, I realize that it has always been more than just about teaching swimming,” Lyes Mahfoudia, the founder of Children of the Sound said in a statement. “Our lessons have always been about using the water to make our students more comfortable and more confident, not just in the water but in their everyday lives. Teaching swimming skills is the easy part -- it's the vehicle for what COTS really does -- which is creating and influencing our students to become confident athletes and respectable people."
COTS has expanded its offerings to include swim clinics and adult lessons in an effort to engage the entire family and build more confident athletes.
