WILTON, Conn. Best-selling author Ann Patchett returns to the Wilton Library for the annual Wilton Reads program this spring.
Patchetts book "State of Wonder" will be the community book, and she will be discussing the novel at the library at 7 p.m. May 30.
According to the Amazon description of the book, the main character, Dr. Marina Singh, is sent to Brazil to track down her former mentor in the Amazon jungle. While looking for him, Singh is faced with looking at her past, the death of a friend and her companys future.
Wilton Reads has, for several years, given us an opportunity through fine literature to sharpen our view of ourselves and the world around us, said Kathy Leeds, the Wilton Librarys executive director.
A book giveaway of 100 free books will be offered by the library starting April 4 at 10 a.m.
At the Beyond Words benefit auction, March 30, a private meeting with Patchett before her talk in May and a collection of first edition signed copies of her books will be auctioned together.
There also will be book group discussions led by Susan Boyar at 7 p.m. May 15 and another led by Joanna Ecke at 10:30 a.m. May 17.
The library will have several additional copies of the book for patrons of the library.
