WILTON, Conn. – The Wilton Historical Society is hosting its annual American Artisan Show on Saturday, Oct. 18, and Sunday, Oct. 19.

The event will be from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday and 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday, with a preview and auction planned from 6:30 to 9:30 p.m. Friday, Oct. 17

All the events will be held in the society’s 18th- and 19th-century buildings, 224 Danbury Road./Route 7.

There will be 30 artisans with arts, crafts and designs on display. Items will include shaker-style furniture, pottery, baskets, candles, quilts, Windsor chairs, rugs, floorcloths, art, tavern signs, fine jewelry, shoes, stringed instruments, peppermills and more. Admission is $8 per person.

“This year, we have a truly amazing range of artisans and the objects they create,” Lynda Campbell, co-chair of the exhibitor committee, said. “Two of the most head-turning – and new to the show – are the String Tinkers and their extraordinary string instruments, made from vintage boxes and tins, and a cordwainer, Molly Grant.”

She explained, “A cordwainer is a shoemaker who works in cordovan leather. Molly makes exceptional handmade shoes, which are practically works of art.”

Maija Neimanis is another artisan who is new to the show this year. She makes jewelry, based on traditional designs, but with a modern twist. She used 22-carat gold, gemstones and ancient techniques like granulation. She and her jewelry have been shown in Vogue and Town and Country magazines.

Pop-up exhibitors will also be added this year, including SKT Ceramics of Brooklyn, Saltbox Press and Jamie’s Organic Candles.
