Wilton Celebrate's Earth Day in Style

WILTON, Conn. – As a part of Wilton’s Earth Day, Connecticut’s Commissioner of the Department of Energy and Environmental Protection Daniel Esty will be speaking at Trackside Teen Center at 2 p.m. April 21.

Esty will speak on “Protecting our Environment in Turbulent Times” and how the state is integrating the approach to energy and the environment. He will also discuss how that can protect public health and natural resources.

“We are extremely proud to have the Commissioner of the DEEP be our keynote speaker for our Earth Day festivities,” said Jana Bertkau, president of Wilton Go Green.

The Commissioner won’t be the only event at Trackside. Starting at 12:30 p.m., there will be spring program exhibits throughout Trackside. A Nissan Leaf electric car will be on display as well as information about all the healthy activities and programs offered by local organizations.

As another part of the Earth Day celebrations, there will be a public dedication of a new Wellness Park to be located at the intersection of Kristine Lilly Way and School Road at noon. And the Chamber of Commerce will be offering a “Cash Mob” discount at many of the stores in Wilton for those who attend the dedication.

Trackside will also be beginning its preparations for the community spring garden where gardeners are invited to take up their trowels and help.
