Wilton Carpenter Jerry Zezima Jr. Dies at 80

WILTON, Conn. – Gerardo “Jerry” Zezima Jr., 80, died March 28 at his home in Wilton, surrounded by family.

The son of the late Gerardo Zezima, Sr. and the late Petronilla Vitti Zezima, he was born April 12, 1931 in Stamford. Zezima attended local schools and served in the military during the Korean War.

A carpenter, he owned the former Zezima Paint and Hardware store in Norwalk. Zezima also volunteered at the Norwalk Soup Kitchen for 23 years. He sang in the choir at Our Lady of Fatima Church in Wilton. An avid golfer and New York Mets fan, he loved to spend time with his family.

Zezima is survived by his son, Gerard Zezima; his daughter, Terri Sargent; his sister, Anne Zezima Whitman; three grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his wife Toni Lodato Zezima; his brothers, Michael, Anthony and Joseph; and his sisters Mary, Phyllis and Carmella.

The family will receive friends from 4-8 p.m. Friday at the Magner Funeral Home in Norwalk. A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 9 a.m. Saturday at St. Matthew Church in Norwalk with burial to follow at St. John Cemetery in Norwalk.
