WILTON, Conn. A wish for cooler weather for jogging, being prepared for recreation league basketball and finding things for kids to do during the summer were some of the things on the minds of people in Wilton when we spoke with them Thursday.
Margaret Lee, 18, was dreading Thursdays warm weather, complete with temperatures in the 90s. The heat forced her to head inside to the Wilton YMCA to get in her daily run.
It would be very nice if the temperature was a few degrees cooler so I could run outside instead of having to go inside, Lee said. Today, its the treadmill. Her ideal running temperature is in the low 70s with a few clouds.
Ben Andrews, 25, was thinking about his recreation league basketball team playing better as the summer goes on. His team started the season with a loss, but hes confident a few wins are in the offing. Were going to try to work the kinks out, said Andrews, who is keeping watch of his knee.
Laura Iorfino is now focused on how she will be able to keep her children occupied and entertained this summer once Wilton schools close out the 2011-12 academic year Friday. Its on many mothers minds, she said.
Jim Burleson, 38, of Wilton, working at the YMCA, was thinking about Las Vegas. Or more appropriately, the real estate problems in Summerlin, Nev. Burleson wondered how cool it might be to buy some land in Nevada, apparently for when things turn around.
Dillon Coyle, 27, of Greenwich, had food on his mind, specifically some sesame chicken and brown rice. After a week of burgers and turkey sandwiches, Coyle said he wanted to mix things up. It sounds like something good for a day like this, he said.
