Lucy, who's described as gentle lovebug, came to the shelter after her second owner became ill and could no longer care for her.

"Lucy is now looking for a home that will be able to love her forever," shelter organizers say. "She is such a lovely, friendly kitty who wants nothing more than to just hang out and enjoy life — without worrying about being sent away again."

Lucy is spayed, house trained and up-to-date on routine shots.

Anyone interested in adopting Lucy can meet her this Saturday from 1 to 4 p.m. at the Animals in Distress headquarters, 238 Danbury Road, or by making an appointment.

The adoption fee is $100 and applications are required. Adoption applications and more information are available on the Animals in Distress website.
