About 30 vendors from Wilton and surrounding areas are expected to serve up samples of their products during this year’s event, scheduled for June 17 at the Trackside Teen Center, said Janeen Leppert, executive director of the Wilton Chamber of Commerce
“The Taste is great community event,” Leppert said. “Restaurants, caterers, bakeries and the like have the opportunity to show off some of their best offerings, and visitors get to taste a little bit of everything.”
The purpose of the event, Leppert said, is to shine a spotlight on the town’s dining scene. Specifically, it shows residents and out-of-towners what Wilton has to offer.
Vendors participating in this year’s Taste include Marly's Bar & Bistro; Little Pub; Bianco Rosso; Bistro 7; Luca Wine Bar & Italian Seafood; Marianne Wilson Catering; Green Leaf Organic Bakery; Wilton Pizza; Tom-Tom’s Restaurant & Bakery; Fresh Pastabilities; Sweet Pierre's; Mini Vinny's and more.
“There are a lot of restaurants in Wilton, so what’s great about the Taste is it gives you a good sense of the diversity that exists in town,” Leppert said. “We have American food, sushi, Indian, Italian, Chinese — there’s a lot going on here and this gives people the opportunity to visit old favorites and discover new ones.”
Last year’s event drew approximately 300 people, despite the rain, Leppert said. She and other event organizers hope to attract more than 300 this year.
Taste tickets are $30 in advance and can be purchased online, or at Fairfield County Bank, 190 Old Ridgefield Road; Wilton Bank, 47 Old Ridgefield Road; Wilton Family YMCA, 404 Danbury Road;, and at the chamber office, 120 Old Ridgefield Road. The day of, tickets are $35 at the door.
The Taste will be held from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. Trackside Teen Center is located at 15 Station Road.
