Brennan: Vote To Preserve Wilton

WILTON, Conn. -- ???????After over 10 years of town effort and negotiations, the citizens of Wilton will have an opportunity to preserve one of the last major pieces of undeveloped property in the community!

Please plan to attend the Special Town Meeting on Tuesday, Nov. 19, at the Wilton High School Clune Center at 7:30 p.m. to consider a proposal to acquire a conservation easement on 39.5 acres of Keiser Family land on Cannon and Seeley roads. Machine voting will begin immediately following Tuesday night's meeting and will continue on Saturday, Nov. 23, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the Wilton High School Clune Center.

The Board of Selectman unanimously endorsed the acquisition of this conservation easement. The Wilton Land Trust also strongly supports this acquisition and is partnering with the town by contributing $300,000 toward the purchase price, demonstrating how important they feel this long pursued opportunity is to Wilton. The proposed acquisition would be paid by the issuance of town of Wilton bonds in an amount not to exceed $2.2 million.

In summary, this is a rare opportunity to preserve a beautiful section of Wilton in perpetuity on very favorable economic terms.

Speaking on behalf of the Board of Selectman, I urge you to attend this important Special Town Meeting and to vote to acquire a conservation easement on this environmentally precious land for the benefit of the community and generations to come.

Thank you,

Bill Brennan
