WILTON, Conn. The Christmas spirit seems to have crept into Wilton, as stores have started decorating their windows and playing holiday music. And it's still a week before Thanksgiving.
For the local businesses, like Signature Style on Old Ridgefield Road, putting the decorations up before Thanksgiving is more a reminder to customers to make their orders. Mary Logan, one of the owners, said there is a cut-off date for Christmas orders because much of what the store sells is personalized for customers in the shop there
I think that it is early for Christmas decorations to go up, but I think thats what retail does, Logan said.
Christmas, of course, is the busiest time of the year for more retailers, including wine ships.
Seasonally, this is the biggest part of the year for us, Frank Lugossy, owner of Vintage Fine Wines, said.
And if the decorations didnt go up before Thanksgiving, there would be no time to get them done later, Lugossy said.
Were very festive in what we do in the store each holiday, Lugossy said, who has decorated his front windows with wine bottles filled with Christmas lights.
National chains like Starbucks, Gap and CVS have rolled out their special decorations and promotions. If youve visited Starbucks recently, youll have noticed the holiday cups have been brought out already along with the special coffee blends, cakes and drinks.
The store manager at Starbucks on River Road said the parent company determines when the specialized merchandise goes on display.
