WILTON, Conn. Break out your cameras, Wilton, and head into the great outdoors the Wilton Garden Club is holding its first photography contest.
Twelve of the photos will be chosen for the club's 2013 calendar. They will be selected from two age categories: entrants 16 and younger, and 17 and older.
So, submit one of your best seasonal shots, or start snapping photos of your favorite outdoor scenes, in color or black and white. Submissions are due at the Wilton Garden Club between Oct. 10 and 20. Entry forms and guidelines will be available on the club's website.
Photos can be submitted at any time, said Pat Hegnauer, who is collecting the entries for the club. And they don't have to be from 2012. They can be from anytime as long as they depict a Wilton landsacpe.
"The object was to get people out from behind the computer," Hegnauer said. She said that if this year turns out to be successful, the club will do the contest annually.
In November, the photos will be displayed at the Gilbert & Bennett Cultural Center. Winners will be announced during an opening reception Nov. 1. Calendars will go on sale starting in December.
