Photographer Offers An Inside Glimpse Of Weir Farm

WILTON, Conn. -- To check out the beauty of Weir Farm National Historic Site, you can head over to the park on the Ridgefield-Wilton border.

But if you want to see the beauty and the textures of the interiors of the Weir House and the Weir Studio, which are closed for restoration, you can check out a photo exhibit called "Weir Was Here -- Secret Rooms, Doors And Windows."

This solo exhibit features photographs from artist Xiomaro, who has also been an artist-in-residence at the national park site. Each photograph is titled so that a poetic narrative unfolds about Weir, his artistic contemporaries and successors, as you view the display. The exhibit can be seen in person at the Gilbert & Bennett Community Cultural Center, 49 New St., Wilton. Call 203-544-0056 for hours and directions.

Weir was one of the founders of American Impressionism and his homestead is now Weir Farm National Historic Site. The park is open weekends in winter.
