WILTON, Conn. -- David McCullough Jr., the high school teacher who gained notoriety for making the graduation speech titled "You Are Not Special," will visit the Wilton Library on Tuesday, May 13, at 8:30 p.m.
McCullough has recently released a book by the same name that he will discuss.
McCullough notes how he has witnessed, in growing numbers, teenagers becoming ever more preoccupied with success -- often at the expense of important formative experiences. Taking on entitled students, helicopter parents, questionable educational goals, club sports, college prep courses and other symptoms of privilege, "You Are Not Special" examines the intense pressure that today’s teenagers have to excel.
Books will be available for purchase and signing.
Registration is highly recommended by logging onto wiltonlibrary.org or call 203-762-3950.
The Wilton Library is located at 137 Old Ridgefield Road.
