WILTON, Conn. — The Wilton Farmers’ Market will kick off its 2015 season Wednesday at the Wilton Historical Society.
Supported by the Wilton Chamber of Commerce and hosted by the Wilton Historical Society, the market takes place from noon to 5 p.m. every Wednesday through Oct. 28.
This year, the market will open at noon to encourage shoppers to “dine” at the market, while enjoying entertainment and activities throughout the season, according to a press release.
Chef Damien from Bar Taco restaurant is scheduled to appear on opening day to host a live chef demo.
Another new addition to this year’s market is Market Manager Elizabeth Beller, who previously chaired the Board of Wakeman Town Farm in Westport and was involved in the Westport Farmers’ Market for three years.
"My goals for this year's WFM are to expand the diversity of our market's offerings with new vendors, feature chef demos each week from area restaurants, and to promote local non-profit organizations. I hope to educate the community of the many benefits of sourcing locally and developing relationships with their farmers that make an impact on their food buying choices." Beller said in a press release.
The Wilton Farmers’ Market is made up of local farmers and artisans who come together to provide shoppers a venue in which to purchase the best products from local vendors. Featured are local produce, baked goods and other items from Ambler Farm, Gazy Brothers Farm, Carrot Top Kitchens, Bistro du Soleil, Beldotti Breads, Oronoque Farms and Cricket Hill Garden - to name just a few.
A variety of local crafters and artisans, including Anita Designs, Natural Herbal Creations, Fairfield Seaglass and Three Bluebirds, also will attend from time to time.
