WILTON, Conn. – Help raise money for Wilton Public Schools, encourage your child to read out loud and take the family to the town's annual parade this Memorial Day weekend. For more event listings, see our Events calendar.

Friday, May 24

Girls Night Out: 6:30 to 8 p.m. Middle school-age girls can make new friends and develop better social skills. Girls will learn to identify and utilize positive social cues, develop conversation skills, initiate new relationships and foster lasting friendships. Group meets every Friday until June 21. Saturday, May 25

Tales to Tails: 11 a.m. to noon. Children of all ages are invited to read stories to therapy dogs, provided by the Ridgefield Operation Animal Rescue's Therapy Dog Program. The use of therapy dogs in reading programs can help children become more comfortable reading out loud. Children must read independently to participate in this program. Registration is required: call 203-762-3950.

Sunday, May 26

Get Smart For Wilton 5K: 9 a.m. Raise funds for Wilton's public schools while enjoying a fun workout. The 3.1-mile course combines road racing and cross country trails. Open to runners and walkers of all ages and ability levels. Registration is $25. All proceeds will be donated to Wilton’s four public schools in the form of technology, music and arts, and staff development grants. Register online or in person beginning at 8 a.m. Wilton High School track, 395 Danbury Road. 

Israel @ 65 Celebration: 2 p.m. Celebrate the 65th anniversary of Israel's founding with a concert featuring renowned Israeli world music group The Shuk. The event will also feature an Israeli marketplace of unique wares and food. Admission into the market place is free. Tickets for the concert, which starts at 5 p.m., range from $18 to $50 and are available online. Proceeds benefit Beit Singer, Israel, a residential program for children and teens rescued from neglect and abuse. Westport Country Playhouse, 25 Powers Court, Westport.

Monday, May 27

Wilton Memorial Day Parade: 10 a.m. Don't miss the town's annual Memorial Day parade. The parade starts on River Road, continues through Wilton Center, and up Ridgefield Road to Hillside Cemetery for a memorial ceremony.
