What To Do in Wilton This Weekend

WILTON, Conn. – Here are a few highlights of things to do in and around Wilton this weekend.  See our Events Calendar for more items.

Friday, Jan. 18 Hoda Kotb at Wilton Library: 7 to 8:30 p.m. New York Times bestselling author and beloved “Today” show co-anchor tells the incredible stories of people who, when faced with impossibly challenging or tragic life situations, persevere — and even thrive.  She asks, what if you, facing a game-changing event or decision right now, could see 10 years into the future?  In "Ten Years Later" Kotb shows how adversity can unleash our best qualities: resilience, perseverance, gratitude, empathy, and creativity. Wilton Library, 137 Old Ridgefield Road.

Saturday, Jan. 19 New Perspectives Film Series at Wilton Library: 7:30 to 9:30 p.m. The New Perspectives Film Series kicks off the new year with Thunder Soul, an exuberant documentary that was the audience winner at the South by Southwest Film Festival in Austin, Texas, HotDocs in Toronto, the Los Angeles Film Festival, and the Dallas International Film Festival. Presented by Jamie Foxx, Thunder Soul follows the alumni from Houston’s storied Kashmere High School Stage Band, who return home after 35 years to play a tribute concert for the 92-year-old “Prof,” their band leader who broke the color barrier and transformed the school’s struggling jazz band into a world-class funk powerhouse in the early 1970s. Donations of $5 are suggested. The New Perspectives Documentary series is programmed and moderated by filmmaker, Megan Smith-Harris. A question and answer session will follow. Wilton Library, 137 Old Ridgefield Road.

Sunday, Jan. 20 Wilton Candlelight Concert: 4 to 5:30 p.m. Bradley Brookshire and Anthony Roth Costanzo will perform at this week’s Wilton Candlelight Concert. All performances are on Sunday afternoons at the Wilton Congregational Church. A portion of the proceeds benefits the Wilton Library. For ticket information call 203-762-3401 or go online. Wilton Congregational Church, 70 Ridgefield Road.
