The April 8 event is scheduled for 10 a.m. to noon at the Rowayton Arts Center. Award-winning New York artist and educator Riad Miah will lead a discussion about artwork he’s judged for RAC’s Abstraction – Abstracts Exhibition.

The slow art experience offers an intimate, guided look at just a few pieces, along with engaging dialog over light refreshments.

Slow Art Day is an international program that has grown from 16 museums and galleries in 2009 to more than 190 last year, according to organizers. The Mystic Museum of Art and South Windsor’s Wood Memorial Library & Museum are among the Connecticut organizations participating this year.

Space to the event is limited, organizers said, adding that advance registration is required along with a fee of $5 per person. Tickets are available here.
