Petersen will lead the workshop using the art created by SPAG (St. Phillips Artist's Guild) on display in the Mayor's Gallery.

Ekphrastic poetry is written in response to an art work, where the author comments on or interacts with the action of the work, or connects the art with some aspect of his/her life. Famous ekphrastic poems include Keat's "Ode on a Grecian Urn" and Auden's "Musee des Beaux Arts."

Petersen is a professor at Norwalk Community College and Norwalk's first poet laureate
