New Ownership Takes Over Wilton Shopping Plaza

WILTON, Conn. – A large portion of the Wilton Center shopping area is now under new ownership.

Kimco Realty of New Hyde Park, N.Y., announced Tuesday that it has purchased the Wilton Campus Shops, a 97,000-square-foot portion of Wilton’s commercial section. The River Road center, which is anchored by the Stop & Shop supermarket, was previously owned by Albert Kleban of Kleban Properties.

“Wilton is such a great market,” said Joshua Weinkranz, vice president of Kimco’s Northeast region. The company had been interested in the shopping center for several months, he said.

“We love supermarket-anchored shopping centers. ... And we are actively seeking properties to acquire, Weinkranz said. "We thought this was a great asset.”

Bon Appetit, Tom E Toes and Cactus Rose as well as Ancona Wines and Liquors and the Athlete’s Foot are some of the stores in the Wilton Campus Shops.

With all its retail spaces filled, there are no immediate plans to make changes to the shopping area, Weinkranz said. But he expects Kimco to reach out to town officials and the Wilton Chamber of Commerce to do what it can to make sure visitors have a good shopping experience.

“We’re happy with the tenant mix. There’s no need to change anything. We love the asset and love the tenants.”

Kimco owns an interest in 926 shopping centers in the United States, Puerto Rico, Canada, Mexico and South America.
