The buffet restaurant opened in the spring of 2017 and was bustling for a time before business slowed down. Golden Corral suddenly announced its closure on Tuesday, Oct. 1.

"It has been a privilege serving our loyal customers and fans who regularly traveled across our state and New York to dine here with your family and friends,” the company posted on its Facebook page, which has since been deleted. “We especially appreciate the many staff members for their contributions, their smiles, and their hard work.”

A spokesperson for Golden Corral said that the buffet was forced to close due in part to “the price of doing business in Connecticut.”

It is unclear what will happen to the space on Turnpike Square in Milford.
