FAIRFIELD COUNTY, Conn. -- A significant early week winter storm is headed toward Fairfield County for the third straight week.

Farther north, there will be more snow accumulation as temperatures hover below the freezing mark. Northern Fairfield could see 2-4 inches of snow accumulation. A Winter Storm Watch is in effect for Northern Fairfield from midnight Monday through 1 a.m. Tuesday.

Snow is expected to mix with rain and freezing rain starting around 3 p.m. Sunday before becoming all snow overnight into Monday in Northern Fairfield and continuing as a wintry mix in Southern Fairfield.

An additional 2 to 4 inches of accumulation is possible Monday until about 9 p.m.

The outlook for Tuesday calls for mostly sunny skies and a high of 33.
