Teen Driving Car Stolen In Greenwich Caught After Foot Chase, Police Say
A teen was nabbed by police driving a stolen vehicle following a chase in two towns and a crash. Cameron David King, 18, of Bridgeport, was arrested around 3 a.m. Tuesday after officers from the Newtown Police Department were dispatched to the area of South Main Street at Bears Hill Road to search for a stolen motor vehicle, Newtown Police said. It was reported that a blue Toyota Highlander was stolen out of Greenwich earlier in the evening and had just been in a pursuit with Bridgeport Police and was last seen traveling north on Route 25. Man Assaults Officer With Vehicle During Pursuit, Police Say
A Newtown Police officer was injured earlier this month while attempting to apprehend a man in what began as a routine traffic stop. The incident unfolded on Sunday, Oct. 7, when Newtown officers attempted to stop John Paul Suero of Danbury for having license plates that did not match the vehicle, the department said in a press release. While attempting to stop the vehicle, Suero took off with officers in pursuit. Due to safety concerns, the officers disengaged the pursuit after a brief time. Two Vehicles Stolen In Fairfield County
Police are reinforcing a message to area residents: lock your cars at night and don’t leave the keys inside. Two vehicles were stolen in Newtown over the weekend: the first from Currituck Road, the second from Old Bethel Road, in the early morning hours of Friday, Sept. 7. Police noted that both vehicles had the keys left in them before they were stolen. Police said that one of the vehicles has been recovered after it was abandoned in Hartford. Video: Deer In Distress Freed From Fence In Fairfield County
Oh, deer. Officers from the Newtown Police Department rescued a deer that found itself in a precarious position this week. On Monday, July 30, Officer Timothy Schoen was called to a local property, where there was a report of a “deer in distress.” The deer had caught one of its hind legs tangled in a fence and couldn’t get loose. Schoen, without formal training of helping animals out of fences, with an assist from a fellow officer, was able to free the deer from his troubling spot and it went on to run off in the woods without further incident. Know him? Investigators from the Newtown Police Department have released surveillance photos of a suspect who allegedly used a stolen credit card at a local CVS. The department is seeking the public’s assistance as they attempt to track down the man, who allegedly bought more than $300 in gift cards with the stolen credit card at the Queen Street location. A Fairfield County man who fled the country to Russia in an attempt to avoid a burglary charge dating back to an incident in Putnam County in 2014 has been sentenced.
