Abinanti filed a Democratic Party petition with over 1,700 signatures on it to officially qualify as a candidate.
“I’ve been a strong advocate for our suburbs and the issues we most care about. Going forward, my priorities will remain the same,” said Abinanti in a statement.
His advocacy includes pro-choice positions, pushing for more common-sense gun control measures and efforts to help those with special needs get fair treatment.
Before his current position in the Assembly, he served on the Westchester County Legislature and the Greenburgh Town Board.
The district covers Greenburgh and Mount Pleasant.
