On Sunday, Aug. 25 at approximately 12:45 a.m., officers responded to a home on a report of a loud disturbance, police said.

When they arrived officers learned of an argument between two people in the home, which ultimately moved outside as it escalated, according to police.

The victim alleged that upon returning home, he had been engaged in what began as a verbal argument with Tiana Hillaire, over accusations that she had made, said police.

This verbal argument escalated to a point where Hillaire allegedly threw a pot of grits and a curtain rod at the victim, according to Westport Police.

Hillaire also reportedly had taken the victim’s cell phone at some point during the argument, police said.

As the two continued to argue, she allegedly locked the victim out of the home throwing some of his belongings into the yard, according to Westport Police.

Police arrived around this time and reportedly located a large kitchen knife in the front yard of the residence, said Westport Police.

Through investigation, it was alleged that this knife had been thrown at the victim by Hillaire as the argument moved to the front door and outside of the residence, Westport Police said.

A police computer check reportedly showed an active protective order on file between the two parties listing the victim as the protected party from Hillaire, according to police.

Conditions of that order had apparently been violated based on the circumstances of this alleged incident as relayed to officers, said Westport Police.

Hillaire was taken into custody and charged with disorderly conduct, second-degree threatening, and criminal violation of a protective order.

Bond was set at $10,000 which she was unable to post, according to Westport Police.

Hillaire was transported to Norwalk Superior Court Monday morning, Aug. 26 for arraignment.
