WESTPORT, Conn. — A Shelton woman faces drug and motor vehicle charges after a Westport officer pulled her over for speeding down Main Street on Saturday and found that she was wanted in a September hit-and-run, police said.

On Sept. 13, a witness saw Nathalia Eskandari, 27, of Kimberly Drive, back into a car at the Brooks Brothers parking lot on Main Street, police said. The witness left a note with Eskandari’s license plate number on the victim’s car.

A Westport officer viewed surveillance video, ran the plate and interviewed Eskandari, who denied causing the accident. A warrant was submitted for her arrest.

On Oct. 7, police said another officer noticed a black Nissan Altima driven by Eskandari traveling north on Main Street at a high rate of speed.

When he pulled her over, he noticed the smell of marijuana in the car and deployed K-9 Atlas, who detected drugs in the center console, police said.

The officer found a small purple container with three pills, two of which were sedatives, police said.

Eskandari was charged with evading responsibility, unsafe backing, failure to carry insurance, two counts of possession of a controlled substance and two counts of illegal storage of a narcotic, police said.

She was held on $5,500 bond and is scheduled to appear in court on Oct. 16.
