James Ribaudo, 47, of 5 Oliver St., was charged with operating under the influence and failure to obey control signal. He was released on $500 bond and is scheduled to appear in court on Jan. 31.

At 7 p.m., Westport Police Officer Rachel Baron stopped a vehicle on the Post Road that failed to stop for the red light at the Jesup Road intersection, police said.

She approached the vehicle and asked the operator for his license and registration and detected what she believed to be a strong odor of alcohol, police said.

Ribaudo was given the standard field sobriety tests, which he failed, police said. He also provided a breath sample and was over the legal limit for alcohol, police said.
