WESTPORT, Conn. — A Bridgeport man's improper license plates were the least of his problems when police caught up with him in the parking lot of a Westport supermarket Monday.
Officers were called to the parking lot at Stop & Shop on Post Road East on the report of an assault, police said. When they arrived, Ahmed Duncan of 315 Palasades Ave., Bridgeport, was fighting with an unknown woman and officers had to separate them, police said.
Witnesses reported that the woman got out of a vehicle screaming and crying, police said. Then Duncan jumped out of the car and struck her with a closed fist, knocking her to the ground, police said.
Police said the victim had visible injuries to her face from the assault.
Duncan was charged with third-degree assault and breach of peace. He was additionally charged with a number of motor vehicle violations, including having license plates that did not belong on his vehicle, police said.
Duncan posted $1,000 bond and was issued a court date of Sept. 15., police said.
